Last updated: 2026-05-30 · Effective: 2026-05-30
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms govern the rights, obligations and responsibilities of Hasegi Inc. ("we") and users in connection with the mobile application "Trovel" (Korean title: 방구석 세계여행, the "Service").
Article 2 (Definitions)
- "Service": the Trovel mobile application and all features included therein.
- "User": a person who uses the Service under these Terms.
- "Content": all materials within the Service, including the curated landmark list, map illustrations, cited photos and summary text, and design.
Article 3 (Effect and Modification of Terms)
- These Terms take effect when the user installs and launches the app.
- We may revise these Terms when necessary; revisions take effect upon in-app notice or upon posting on this page.
- Continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Article 4 (Service Provision)
The Service offers an illustrated, paper-toned interface for exploring a curated selection of 100 world landmarks. Key features include:
- Five-level drill-down map (World → Continent → Region → Country → Landmark)
- Daily "Landscape of the Day" local notification
- Visit stamps, stamp book, and passport progress tracking
- Eleven curated theme collections
- Landmark search and filtering (by continent, theme, visit status)
- External links (Wikipedia, YouTube search, Maps app)
- Settings: dark mode, notification preferences, data reset, etc.
Article 5 (Use of the Service)
- The service agreement is formed when the user installs and launches the app. There is no sign-up process; all visit and learning records are stored locally on the device.
- Users may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
- Some features (e.g., Wikipedia image lookup) require an internet connection.
Article 6 (Advertising)
- To keep the Service free of charge, we display Google AdMob ads in the following formats:
- Bottom banner — always visible
- App Open ad — on cold start, and on resume only when the app has been in the background for 2 hours or more
- Interstitial ad — when entering a region (country group) screen, with a minimum 5-minute interval and a maximum of 3 times per session
- Native ad inside the exit dialog — the user may dismiss it without watching the ad by tapping "Keep exploring"
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising as follows. Even after opting out, ads continue to display but switch to contextual (non-personalized) ones:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable for "Trovel"
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
- We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, safety, or transactional outcomes of ad content or external sites reached through ads. Disputes are to be resolved directly between the user and the relevant advertiser.
- For details on advertising data processing, see Article 10 of the Privacy Policy.
Article 7 (User Obligations)
- Users shall comply with applicable laws, these Terms and notices issued by us.
- Users shall not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit Service Content without authorization.
- Users shall not interfere with the normal operation of the Service (e.g., reverse engineering, automated bulk requests).
- When using external links (Wikipedia, YouTube, Maps apps, etc.), users must also comply with the terms of those services.
Article 8 (Intellectual Property)
- All content within the Service (curated landmark list, map illustrations, design, font application, etc.) is owned by us or by the legitimate rights holders.
- Landmark photos and summary text are provided under Wikimedia Foundation's public licenses (primarily CC BY-SA), with rights reserved to the original authors.
- The RIDIBatang font used in the app is governed by RIDI Corp.'s license.
- Users may use the Service Content for personal, non-commercial study and viewing purposes only.
Article 9 (User Data Management)
- All user data (visit records, memos, streak counts, preferences) is stored exclusively on the user's device.
- The "Reset visit records" menu in Settings allows instant deletion of all data.
- Uninstalling the app permanently removes all data; we are not responsible for backup or recovery.
Article 10 (Service Restriction and Suspension)
We may restrict or suspend all or part of the Service in the following cases:
- Force majeure such as natural disasters, war, or network failures
- Temporary outages or policy changes of external services (e.g., Wikimedia, Google AdMob)
- Quality improvement, technical reasons, or other operational needs
Article 11 (Limitation of Liability)
- We are exempt from liability when the Service cannot be provided due to force majeure events.
- While we exercise reasonable care regarding landmark information, we are not liable for any costs, safety, or scheduling issues arising from actual travel.
- We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of external services (Wikimedia, YouTube, Maps apps, etc.).
- We make no warranties and assume no liability for content or services on external sites accessed via external links.
Article 12 (Damages)
If a user causes damage to us or to a third party by violating these Terms or applicable laws, the user is responsible for compensating such damage.
